Our management units

The management unit is responsible for the management, development and exploitation of the Scientific and Technological Park; it gives support to the operation of the entire Foundation, from economic and administrative management, to the management of human resources.

The Unit for the promotion of enterprises is responsible for managing the spaces of the Scientific and Technological Park. Then is responsible of the management of the business incubator, as well as for the management of the general infrastructure and facilities.

The OTRI, also known as Research Results Transfer Office or OTRI in the Spanish acronym, with a trajectory of more than ten years in the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is responsible for the recovery of R&D, the transfer of technology and the supply of services of the ULPGC, whose fundamental objective is to promote relations between the university researchers and the company.

It is responsible for the management of collaboration agreements between companies and researchers, the search for funding for R+D+i, the management of support services to the scientific and technological research, the exploitation and transfer of results of research projects developed in the environment of the ULPGC, in collaboration with the Office of Intellectual and Industrial Property, the management of congresses, conferences, workshops and activities of scientific dissemination.

Contact:

The Intellectual and Industrial Property Office is responsible for the protection of research results of the ULPGC, advising on the different ways to protect results and their management.  Chemical compounds, mechanical appliances, procedures of synthesis, drugs, software… The results of research should be properly protected to promote their transfer.

Then is responsible of the protection and value enhancement, as well as the exploitation and transfer of results of research projects developed in the environment of the ULPGC, in collaboration with the Research Results Transfer Office.

The European Projects Office (OPE), the Knowledge Management Unit (UGC) and the Intellectual and Industrial Property Office (OPII) in Canarian Science and Technology Park Foundation of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, have been financed in the financial year 2021 under the Agreement between the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (Secretary of State for Universities, Research, Development and Innovation) and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, for the Improvement of Research Capacities and Support Services for Research, Development and innovation in the Priority Research Areas in the Smart Specialization Strategy of the Canary Islands, signed on December 10, 2018.

The Projects Office is responsible for managing self-funding, national or international projects of R+D+i. Within the management of international projects, the OP has a specialization in European projects, for which it has the OPE.
Under a strategy based on an tricontinental approach, focused on the areas of smart expertise for the Canary Islands (Tourism and Sea/Marine Environment,) aligned with the Institutional Strategic Plan 2014 and CEI-Canarias, and designed at the same time to provide a response to the major challenges identified in the program Horizonte 2020, the ULPGC makes a firm commitment determined by the Office of European projects as a dynamic element that facilitates the participation with their research groups guarantees in European and international research programs, and promoting synergies with researchers and companies located in the three continents.

The POMAC Project management office is in charge of managing ULPGC R&D and innovation projects financed by the Interreg MAC program, 2014-2020 MAC Program.

The European Commission approved on June 3, 2015 the new Cooperation Program INTERREG V-A Spain-Portugal MAC (Madeira-Azores-Canarias) 2014-2020 with a budget of 130 million euros (85% financed by the European Regional Development Fund-ERDF). On October 17, 2017, the EC approved an increase in Program funding, with a total budget of almost 149 million euros (126.5 million ERDF).

By Resolution of the Rector of the University dated December 17, 2019, the Canarian Science and Technology Park Foundation of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Fundación Canaria Parque Científico Tecnológico de la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, FCPCT) is entrusted with the economic management and execution of 21 projects approved in the second call for the territorial cooperation program INTERREG MAC 2014-2020.

The UCC+i is responsible for organizing the different activities related to science dissemination at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The mission of this unit is making the work of scientists easy to understand to society in order to increase the scientific culture of citizens, and their interest in science, technology and innovation.
